Dress for Success

As the weather changes and becomes colder, you can still wear a dress if you find that's appropriate or a necessity when interviewing or working. This dress from Banana Republic is great. First, it is the perfect length - right above the knee and color - neutral. It's paired dark stockings that keep it professional. Always remember though, to keep a sweater or jacket handy because you don't know how cold it may be where you are.

Putting it all Together

When deciding what to wear for a job interview, you want to have options so you are not always limited.  Some basics that are great to have on hand are a classic white blouse, a simple two or three button jacket, and a pencil skirt.  When the weather is colder, a button up trench coat is a good style that keeps you looking professional.  Theses looks below are from Express. When you wear a skirt, always wear stockings, and have an extra pair on hand, just in case you snag your original pair.

Adding Color

This is a great way to add color to any outfit. The yellow jacket is sunny but not too bright and overpowering. By pairing it with black pants it gives it professional style. Also, the appropriate fit is critical when putting together an outfit with vibrant colors.

Always Keep a Sweater Handy

It's important to always have a cardigan or a wrap on hand because you never know what the temperature may be inside the building that you are working in or interviewing at. This cardigan is great. It's a cropped cashmere. It isn't tight to your arms so it won't wrinkle the shirt that you're wearing underneath. This is important because you may get warmer as the day goes on. The cropped sleeves work well when you are on the computer - they wont' get in the way. It's sold exclusively at Bloomingdale's.

Button Up Shirts

Button-ups are not just for your boyfriend. If you find a tailored fit, you can achieve a fashionable and professional look. Pair the button up with a nice blazer and suiting pants and you are set to go to an interview. You can get these shirts in every different color, with a variety of pinstripes.
